Meet the Founder, Matt Ozanne

Matt Ozanne is a former 2009 MLB draft pick (Arizona Diamondbacks) and NCAA Division I baseball player. After graduating from Santa Clara University in 2013, Matt channeled his competitive nature into a successful career in software sales. As his post-grad career progressed, Matt felt his passion calling him back to the field and he began coaching his first youth baseball team in 2015.

Over the past eight years, Matt has coached all levels of baseball, from 10u to 18u. He has played an important and positive role for his players and Matt is proud to have helped shape the futures of these young athletes.

The Perfect Solution

After coaching tournament baseball teams for years, Matt found it frustrating to register and pay fees for tournaments months in advance, only to not have enough healthy players to compete.

While his teams had enough players to field a team, the lineups lacked depth due to injuries and pitching was quickly exhausted. Matt noticed that in tournament baseball, at least 12 or more players were needed to compete at a high level and make it to the championship.

Matt and his players experienced several tournaments that required teams to play upwards of 5 games in 2 days, forcing teams to overthrow their pitchers. At lower levels, tournaments and league pitch count rules made it even harder to stretch pitching over a long weekend.

Matt also noticed that tournament directors were struggling to create competitive brackets and matchups amongst the depleted teams.

Like many other coaches, Matt found himself looking for temporary talent but noticed that the search process was archaic and inefficient. So his business brain and baseball heart created Diamond Match, the best baseball network for teams, tournaments, and players.

Diamond Match was created as a place where players can maximize their reps and advance their skills. It’s where teams sustain their competitive edge by fielding full teams and keeping pitchers’ arms healthy.
